Working Together Steering Group
Working Together is a partnership (established in 1999) between the professional
bodies representing tax advisers (currently CIOT, ICAEW, ICAS, ATT, AAT and
ACCA) and HMRC. It is intended to strengthen local liaison between practitioners
and HMRC and improve the operation of the both the direct and indirect tax
systems. The focus is on operational issues.
WT operates at two levels:
- At national level there is a Steering Group (supported by a central team) which meets quarterly.
- At local office level (there are around 60 local WT groups comprising local staff and tax advisers).
At national level the Working Together team (part of Business Customer Unit) produces a regular newsletter aimed at tax advisers (which keeps them informed about the key issues) and supports a Working Together section in the Practitioner Zone.
