HMRC’s SA Tax Return software box 23.1 Not Disabled after 30 December 2006

After 30 December, the option to request that any tax owed for 2005-06 was collected in the tax code should have been made inactive. Unfortunately, this did not happen.

We have been able to identify those customers who filed on time after 30 December and asked for their underpayment to be coded out. As a result, we have put arrangements in place to ensure that the small number of people affected by this will not now face a surcharge.

Should you come across a case where these circumstances do apply but a surcharge is still in place, we would ask you to contact the relevant HMRC office asking them to rectify the position.
