LPO Offices:

North East Metropolitan

Sefton
East Hants & Wight
Wrexham

Background

The LPO handle the tax affairs of some 15million individuals employed by 475,000 businesses. These offices have undergone significant change over recent years with the formation of HM Revenue and Customs and increase in e-business. Their very remoteness from their customer base, and their size, pose challenges around communication and customer contact as well as service issues.

Agents who use these offices are uniquely placed to identify areas where customer contact is problematic and to work with us to improve the effectiveness of processes or practices on both sides. For more background please refer to the articles published in Working Together issues 18 and Working Together issues 21.

The forum will consult on issues of mutual interest including:

  • the experience of customers and their agents who deal with these offices, and how to improve this
  • the operation of PAYE and SA processes within these offices, and how to make this more effective
  • the performance of these offices as a group and individually
  • issues generic to the operation of PAYE and SA within HMRC local offices.

The Consultation process

  • Opportunity for all agents who have dealings with the offices listed above to be involved in the consultation process via the email window facility (see link above).
  • A link to the email window will also be available via professional body web pages prior to each meeting (i.e. CIOT, ICAEW, ICAS, AAT, ATT & ACCA)

What are the opportunities?

  • Improving processes on a large scale from feedback
  • Widening the scope of interaction
  • Identifying common problems and solutions
