Changes to PAYE Online - Internet Direct View Access Replaces Secure Mailbox
Background
Agents who already use our PAYE Online service to do such things as send and receive forms and returns over the Internet, will know that when they register for and activate the service, we set up a Secure Mail Service (SMS) mailbox as the delivery point for messages we send.
As part of our commitment to improve our online services, we have decided to replace SMS with a new system to view and download online data that is not a "mailbox" type of solution. Instead of data being delivered to customers, authorised users will have direct viewing and retrieval access to the data we make available using the Internet.
What’s Happening and When?
The new system – Data Provisioning Service (DPS) is being introduced gradually from February 2006. It will present data in a table format, which will be more helpful than the online mailbox messages that are presented as forms that look like their paper equivalents. The way in which the data is displayed will make it easier for authorised users to see, collect and use the information.
Messages and notifications for the tax year 2006-07 will be posted to the new system, whilst those relating to the 2005-06 tax year will be posted to the existing online mailbox.
This means that
- From February 2006, employers and agents registered for PAYE Online – Internet will be presented with a series of new screens with online navigation to assist processing PAYE messages and notifications.
- The bulk P9s issued in February 2006 will be available using this new service but for all other messages, until 5 April 2006, employers and agents will continue to use and access the online mailbox.
- From 5 April 2006, all messages will be available through the new service and no messages will be sent to the online mailbox.
Agent View
After login you will be taken to your PAYE service page where the new PAYE notices service will be visible.
As an authorised agent you will be able to specify the sequence of data
viewed. In addition you can also view recent notices sent to all clients.
There is no change to the way agents access their PAYE Online service and
the new system will continue to offer a CSV download facility for coding
and student loans stop/start notices
Third Party software
Agents who use a third party software application to access data will continue to be able to do so. However, they should contact their supplier to establish any revised procedures that may be needed.
