FAQs - Administration Periods
Q. Do I have to complete a tax return for the estate that I am administering?
A. Not necessarily. We can deal with the tax liability informally without issuing a Trust and Estate Tax Return. This applies if:
- you think that the estate is likely to be finalised within two calendar years from the date of death, and
- the amount of tax is less than £10,000, and
- there are no complicated issues.
Ask the responsible tax office for more details of the informal payments procedures.
