Form R85 – 2008 update

A pdf of both the 2008 version of the R85 and Helpsheet are available at Appendix 1. The main changes are to the allowances and the HMRC website addresses. These changes are listed below.

R85
Column 1, line 3 - ‘…Helpsheet (2007) …’ changed to ‘…Helpsheet (2008)…’

Helpsheet - front
Title - the year has changed to 2008

Column 1, line 5 - ‘….of at least £100…’ changed to ‘ … of at least £104…’

Column 2, final para - ‘For a Braille version……or go online to www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxback.’ has been changed to ‘For a Braille version ….. or go online to www.hmrc.gov.uk and search for R85 large print.’

Allowances box – the figures are

Married couple’s allowance - the figure to go in this box is £4,472

Column 1, line 7 - the website address has been changed to www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/r85.pdf

Column 2, line 2 - the year has been changed from ‘2007-08’ to 2008-09’

Column 2, line 3 - the years have been changed from ‘……6 April 2007 to 5 April 2008….’ to ‘……6 April 2008 to 5 April 2009…’

Column 2, line 10 - the words ‘or go online to www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxback/claiming-back.htm’ have been deleted and have not been replaced.

Column 2, line 14 - the year has been changed from ‘2001-2002’ to ‘2002-2003’

Column 2, line 15 - the year has changed from ‘2008’ to ‘2009’

Form R85 and Helpsheet – ordering supplies

TDSI Bulletin 23 explained how we intended to deliver future supplies of the form R85 and Helpsheet.

We would be grateful if you would supply us with the contact details, including email address, of the person in your organisation who you would like to be our liaison point. And we are happy for you to provide us with your own estimate of the numbers you will require – we will deliver 25 per cent of your annual order as soon as possible.

We will, during the next year:

  • ask for feedback about how this system is working
  • ask whether we need to change the amounts we are sending you

If you do not wish to make use of this new system you can continue ordering in the normal way – please let us know if you are going to do this.
