Students: Who to contact with queries and complaints

If you want general information about applying for a loan you should visit the website of the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). They have three sites:

• England or Wales
  
• Scotland
  
• Northern Ireland

If your enquiry is about a loan you already have, for example:

• what is the balance of my account?
  
• when will I repay my loan?
  
• can I defer making repayments?
  
• I have a complaint.

Contact the Student Loans Company (SLC) direct.

If your enquiry is about repaying your loan you should get in touch with HM Revenue & Customs for advice.

How to contact the SLC
When contacting the SLC, have your student support number or loan account number handy. These can be found on any SLC correspondence. Contact details for the SLC are as follows.
