Students: What information does my employer have about my loan

Even though your employer is deducting student loan repayments from your pay, they cannot access information about your student loan account. The Student Loans Company will not give out information about your student loan to your employer.

Your employer will:

  • start and stop deducting student loan repayments when we ask them to
  • keep records of the deductions made
  • pay over student loan repayments to us
  • provide us with details of the deductions taken from your wages or salary
  • provide you with wage slips and a form P60 (at the end of the tax year) detailing the loan repayments they have deducted.

The details of your loan are confidential. We don't know anything about the amount you have borrowed and neither does your employer.
