Results - Consultation of National Statistics on Indirect Taxes

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) held a consultation from 4 January 2010 to 5 April 2010 on its National Statistics on Indirect Taxes. The statistics are published at: uktradeinfo - Statistics on Indirect Taxes (Opens new window).

The aim of the consultation was to understand how customers use the statistics and how the statistics can be improved to better meet user needs. The changes HMRC consulted on were:

  • moving the bulletins from a monthly to a quarterly publication
  • removing the seasonally adjusted VAT data
  • combining the various alcohol bulletins into one
  • additions to the bulletins: including interpretations of the data (in graph or text form); including a longer time series; including historical data
  • dropping the factsheets (except for VAT and alcohol)

The responses have now been analysed. To see the findings and the action taken as a result, please use this link: Indirect Taxes.
