The following table provides details of the income breakdown of families claiming tax credits in each Westminster parliamentary constituency. It is based on provisional awards using HM Revenue & Customs administrative snapshot data relating to April 2010.
Definition of income: The incomes used here are the declared 'current year' incomes. This is thought to be most representative of the incomes that families are actually receiving within each constituency. However, this differs from the standard publications which use 'income used for tax credit purposes' – in this instance, the income used to taper the awards – after the income disregard is applied. As a result the information in each set of tables is not strictly comparable though deriving from the same source data.
