Change of timetable for publishing Tables 7.4 Personal pensions for individuals: annual contributions and Table 7.5 Stakeholder pensions for individuals: annual contributions

With immediate effect, it has been decided to change the publication of Tables 7.4 (Personal pensions for individuals: annual contributions) and Table 7.5 (Stakeholder pensions for individuals: annual contributions) from 31 July 2009 to 30 September 2009 due to data quality concerns.

Up to October 2007 we published these tables quarterly on a provisional basis. This allowed us to update each quarter with data from late returned monthly statistical information at the time of the next or subsequent quarterly publications. Since switching to annual tables we have found that the time frame for publishing annual data at the end of July for the tax year ending 5 April provided to us by scheme administrators by 5 June is too narrow to guarantee data of a robust quality. Therefore, from 2009 onwards, we will be publishing these tables at the end of September.
