National Statistics user consultation release

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will be holding a consultation on its National Statistics on Indirect Taxes with users, from 4 January 2010 to 5 April 2010. The statistics are published on the uktradeinfo website (Opens new window).

The aim of the consultation is to understand how customers use the statistics and how the statistics can be improved to better meet user needs. The changes HMRC will consult on are:

• moving from a monthly to a quarterly publication of bulletins
• no longer publishing Indirect Taxes in the Annual Report tables
• no longer publishing the Indirect Taxes fact sheets (Opens new window) (except for VAT and alcohol)
• no longer publishing the seasonally adjusted VAT data
• consolidating the alcohol bulletins into fewer tables
• including text and graphs to illustrate trends and providing longer time series
