Stamp Taxes Online - The Electronic SDLT 5 Certificate is here

From 1st November 2006, Stamp Taxes Online will produce an electronic SDLT 5 certificate (submission receipt) for all successfully submitted transactions.

The certificate can be printed-off and submitted to the appropriate Land Register (with the necessary documents) for registration. This faster, more efficient service will be of great benefit to our customers.

HMRC has worked closely with Registers of Scotland (RoS) Land Registry of England & Wales (HMLR) & Land Registry of Northern Ireland (NILR) to achieve this exciting development and gain their acceptance of the online submission receipt for registration purposes.

Paper versions

A paper SDLT 5 will also be issued by post, but this should simply be kept on file and must not be sent to the Registers.

Multiple addresses

Stamp Taxes Online certificate will only show the first property address for any transaction. If there are multiple addresses, PDF copies of any SDLT 3s or 4s should be attached to it and sent to the appropriate register.

Third Party Vendors [TPVs]

We have been working closely with TPVs to allow online filers who use commercial packages to make use of electronic certificates. TPV versions may vary from Stamp Taxes’ but they will notify their clients about what’s on offer.
