Stamp Taxes – Updates
The HMRC Stamp Taxes Online Service Internet pages have been updated.
We are in the process of reviewing all our Stamp Taxes Internet pages to make it easier for our customers to find the information they are looking for.
If you are wanting technical information and guidance go to Stamp Taxes.
For information about filing your Land Transaction Returns online and how to login and register to use the service go to Introduction to Stamp Taxes Online.
If you would like to know more about the wider range of online service we offer to help customers deal with tax, excise and benefit related issues go to Online Services.
We really do value feedback about our website and Online Services so please feel free to complete a feedback form.
Effective Date Warning Screen
The HMRC Online Land Transaction Return has been improved. Users now have the opportunity to check and confirm the effective date prior to submission where it is more than 30 days after the date of transaction.
More grants/assignments of lease transactions can now be filed online
From April 07 the ‘lease start date’ fields on land transaction returns will accept dates from 1st January 1500 and also allow future dates to be entered. This means you will be able to notify many more grants/assignments of lease transactions online.
The Electronic SDLT 5 Certificate is here
From 1 November 2006, when you file your land transaction return online, your successful submission receipt will now become your SDLT 5 certificate.
Improved ‘Maintain agent details’
As a result of customer feedback we have enhanced our ‘maintain agent details’ function within our Stamp Taxes Online service. This will allow you to enter multiple agent address details up to a maximum of 25 addresses.
Registered Online Service users
If you have registered for Stamp Taxes Online, you must send your land transaction returns online.
Electronic payments
If you file your land transaction returns online, why not pay electronically? Electronic payments are generally more efficient and secure than payment by post. Exceptionally, if you are paying by cheque we have changed the process to ensure quicker processing of payments.
