Stamp Taxes Online - Computer Requirements
To complete, validate and file SDLT forms online you must first register and then activate the Stamp Taxes Online service. To register for Stamp Taxes Online go to the HMRC homepage and under ‘do it online’ select ‘Stamp duty land tax’
To access Stamp Taxes Online and use the system, customer’s equipment must reach a minimum standard, with appropriate settings made to ensure successful connection and submission.
These are as follows:
PC Users:
- Operating system: Windows 98 or above (i.e. Windows ME/NT/2000/XP)
- Internet browsers: Internet Explorer 5.0 or above; Netscape 4.75; Opera 6.0
Mac Users:
- Operating system: Mac OS9 or above
- Internet browsers: Internet Explorer 5.1; Netscape 4.77
Please also note that your Internet browser must have JavaScript and cookies enabled and be capable of supporting 128-bit SSL.
Also company firewall settings may also need to be adjusted.
Although HMRC Online Services are designed and tested for use with the above system requirements, you may be able to access the services using other operating system and browser combinations. However the appearance of the pages and performance may be affected. Please also note that our Online Services Helpdesk cannot deal with any difficulties arising in these circumstances.
Other Operating System and Browsers
N.B You should always use the navigation buttons when using the HMRC online service. If you use the back button on the browser you will receive a system busy or will be automatically logged out. You will need to shut the browser and log in again to access the service.
