Take advantage of online filing
Since the New Year, Stamp Taxes has been sending 2D bar-coded returns that have failed to scan, back to customers.
Enclosed with the failed return is a letter explaining:
- why we have rejected the return
- guidance on how to resubmit
- how we will ensure that the payment - which we have kept - can be matched up to the resubmitted return, along with a green and white SDLT1, annotated with the original UTRN for completion
We are finding that the majority of customers are not following the process outlined in the letter, and are resubmitting a new bar-coded return, using the same UTRN. In the majority of cases, this return is accepted by the scanners and processed as normal.
Please be aware that, although this is currently acceptable, from the 1 November 2008 all 2D bar-coded returns will no longer be accepted or processed.
We ask all our customers who are currently using the CD–Rom to sign up for and take advantage of online filing. In addition, we are asking customers who currently use commercial software 2D Barcode products to approach their supplier to find out about the alternative online filing products on offer.
