Online Registration for Councils and Other Government Departments

Councils and Government Departments can now register for Stamp Taxes Online. We have written to every Local and County Council in the UK inviting them to reap the undoubted benefits of online filing. Before registering, these organisations must complete and return a short questionnaire - we will then send them the ‘unique identifier’ they need.

We sent invitation letters to Heads of legal departments. Any Councils or government departments who wish to register and don’t receive a letter by the 31 January 2008 should email msd.stampscondoc@ir.gsi.gov.uk

Once registered, you will be able to submit stamp duty land transaction returns online, using either a Commercial Software product or HMRC’s own software.
