Check the effective date

From 27 June 2007 the HMRC Online Land Transaction Return will warn you when the ‘effective date’ entered is more than 30 days after the date of transaction.

We recognise that many penalties are issued due to incorrect ‘effective date’ entries, especially for returns filed in the New Year. We have therefore enhanced our online return to include a new warning message. This message will be displayed on screen before you make a declaration and file the return if the ‘effective date’ entered exceeds the 30 day filing deadline (30 days after the date of transaction).
