Disadvantaged Areas Relief: Postcode Search Tool

You can use this postcode search tool to help you to establish whether your property is situated in a qualifying area for disadvantaged areas relief.

From 17 March 2005, this relief is available for purchases of residential property situated in qualifying areas where the consideration for the purchase is £150,000 or less, see Is my property situated in a qualifying area? for more information about the qualifying rules for the relief.

If you do not know the postcode of the property, you can get help from the Postcode Helpline on 0845 711 1222 or from the Royal Mail website.

This postcode search tool is provided for guidance only and any indication given does not override the statutory rules which establish the qualifying areas.

The search tool may not identify every postcode which is situated in a statutory qualifying area, particularly (but not exclusively) in the case of newly-built properties.

If you are in any doubt about this (or if the property does not have a postcode) you are advised to make further enquiries to establish whether the property is situated in a qualifying area. Developers or local authority planning departments may be able to help with this.

How to use the search tool

The postcode must be entered in the correct format.

The first box should contain either 1-2 letters followed by 1-2 digits or letters for example, NE99, or a letter, a number and another letter for certain Central London postcodes for example, W1N

The second box should contain 1 digit followed by 2 letters e.g. 1ZZ
