How to tell HMRC about your tuition and coaching income

If you told HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) by 6 January 2012 that you intend to declare income from coaching, tuition and/or anything else, you now need to disclose that income and pay what you owe by 31 March 2012.

What happened when HMRC received your notification?

Your details were noted if you telephoned but if you notified online you will have been sent a simple electronic acknowledgment. Later you will have received a letter to confirm your unique Disclosure Reference Number (DRN) to use in future communications and your Payment Reference Number which you must use when you pay what you owe.

Details of how to make payment are included in the guidance.

If you need to talk to HMRC about your ability to pay in full by 31 March 2012 you must do that at an early stage to make sure you have an agreed payment arrangement in place before the disclose and pay deadline. Call HMRC on Tel 0845 601 8817.
