Update on use of Electronic Data Interchange for sending PAYE information in Real Time

The RTI pilot began on 11 April 2012 as planned with a controlled go-live and is going well. Further pilot stages are scheduled with up to 250,000 employers reporting RTI by March 2013. We are on track for most employers to begin using the RTI service from April 2013 and for all employers to be routinely reporting PAYE in real time by October 2013.

New app calculates your tax and how it is spent

A new tax calculator has been launched to enable people to work out how much tax they pay and how the Government spends it. The tax calculator can be downloaded as a free mobile phone app and is also available on the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) website.

Around three million taxpayers will start to receive tax refunds from next week, two months earlier than last year, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) confirmed today. This is because the annual reconciliation of Pay As You Earn (PAYE) for the tax year 2011/12 is starting earlier than ever before.
