Integrated Model Rules for Personal Pension Schemes including Stakeholder Pension Schemes

There are four versions of the Integrated Model Rules for use by personal pension schemes, one main set and three abridged versions. These rules were introduced through Pensions Update No 144 and can be reached from the links below. The notes are in PDF and RTF format. IMR2003 : These rules cover all types of personal pension schemes, including stakeholder pension schemes, appropriate personal pension schemes, contracted-out money purchase schemes and self-invested personal pension schemes. The shaded type represents changes from the previously published IMR2000.

IMR2003PP : This abridged set of rules is for use by schemes that are not contracted out and are not stakeholder pension schemes. The shaded type represents changes from the main set of rules above (IMR2003).

IMR2003CO : This abridged set of rules is for use by schemes that are contracted out as appropriate personal pension schemes and are not stakeholder pension schemes. These rules do not cover schemes that contract out as contracted out money purchase schemes. They also do not cover self-invested personal pension schemes. There is also no mention of pensioneer trustee requirements or the Personal Pension Schemes (Conversion of Retirement Benefits Schemes) Regulations 2001 (SI 2001/118). The shaded type represents changes from the main set of rules above (IMR2003).

IMR2003SHP : This abridged set of rules is for use by schemes that are contracted out as appropriate personal pension schemes and are also stakeholder pension schemes. These rules do not cover schemes that contract out as contracted out money purchase schemes. They also do not cover self-invested personal pension schemes. There is also no mention of pensioneer trustee requirements or the Personal Pension Schemes (Conversion of Retirement Benefits Schemes) Regulations 2001 (SI 2001/118). The shaded type represents changes from the main set of rules above (IMR2003).
