End of year on the Employer CD-ROM: Top Tips!
VISTA users
There are specific installation and data transfer instructions for the 2008 CD-ROM if you use VISTA on your computer. You must follow these steps to make sure that you transfer the Database from the 2007 Updated CD-ROM onto the 2008 CD-ROM successfully.

Printing P60
If you have sent us your Employer Annual Return direct from the CD-ROM, you can still print P60s for your employees even if you have a problem using the ‘Print’ P60 button on the ‘Submission Status’ page of the CD-ROM. To access the form P60:
- go to ‘Forms & Helpbooks’
- select ‘Fill in forms on screen’
- select ‘Fill in forms with save’
- select ‘Form P60’ and manually enter the figures from the files you have saved when completing the Year End
Statutory payment recovery
If you get an error message saying that ‘you cannot recover more than what you have paid’ when you try to recover statutory payments (Statutory Maternity Pay or SMP, Statutory Adoption Pay or SAP, and Statutory Paternity Pay or SPP), reduce the amount recovered by 1p.
Directors National Insurance
If you have used the updated 2007 CD-ROM to complete the whole of the pay records for 2007-08 and you have directors you may be asked to recalculate the National Insurance due in the final week before you can complete and send your Return. You must do this on the 2008 CD-ROM by deleting the final payment for the director and re-entering the final payment. Remember, if you use the P32 to record the tax and National Insurance due, you must revise the figure for the last pay period if the amount of National insurance is different.
Invalid character ‘space’
You might get this error message even if there does not appear to be an invalid character. To clear invalid spaces, press ‘delete’ a number of times in the relevant field until the error clears.
