Service availability

As part of a number of scheduled IT updates to our online services, we are undergoing planned upgrade and maintenance work to our IT systems between 12 and 15 October. This work is essential to continuing to improve our IT services and to bringing new software and hardware online.

This means that some of our online services will not be available during that time. A full list of affected services is below.

Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS)

We are aware that you may be experiencing up to 30 minutes delay in receiving your acknowledgement for messages submitted using HMRC or commercial software. Please do not attempt to resubmit your messages. We are working with our IT partners to provide an urgent fix for the problem. We recommend, where possible, that you wait for your acknowledgment and ARC.  If you cannot wait for EMCS to become available you must follow the fallback procedures detailed on EMCS website.  Once the successful acknowledgement and ARC are received, the movement is then taking place under EMCS. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
