Jobseeker's Allowance

There are two routes of entry for Jobseeker's Allowance;

• a contribution-based route
• an income-based route.

Your entitlement to contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance depends on the amount of Class 1 contributions you have paid (or been credited with).

Normal Class 2 contributions do not count towards entitlement to contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance. However, Class 2 contributions paid by share fishermen do count towards contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance.
