Enquiry service

To assist employers, scheme administrators and pension providers in fulfilling their contracted-out obligations, National Insurance Services to Pensions Industry as part of the National Insurance Contributions Office, offer a number of services. These include:

The Accrued Guaranteed Minimum Pension Liability Service (AGLS) Provides Occupational Pension Authorities with details of Accrued Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP) Liability to assist them with calculations of actuarial valuation See CA19
The Contracted-out Contribution/Earnings Information Service (COCIS) Provides Employers/Schemes or their representatives with details of contribution/earnings for specified tax years

The National Insurance Number/Date of Birth Checking Service(NINO/DOB) We can compare National Insurance Numbers and Dates of Birth held by Schemes with the information held on our records

The Contracted-out Data Transaction using Magnetic Media Service (COMMS) We can provide Schemes/Employers with the means to submit Notice of Termination, requests for calculation or remittances on Magnetic tape, flexible disc and Data Cartridge See CA22

Letter Forwarding Service

DWP provide a letter forwarding service for pension scheme administrators and providers. Schemes can use this service to trace individuals who have entitlement to Contracted-out rights. DWP charge for this service.

Answers queries from customers who have received a letter about a shortfall in their National Insurance records.

National Insurance Registration Helpline Tel: 084591 57 006
Gives assistance to juveniles (between the age 15 years 9 months – 16 years) who have not yet received their National Insurance number. It gives information relating to the registration for National Insurance for adults (over 20 years old) and people who wish to work in this country. The helpline also issues letter of confirmation of National Insurance Numbers and application forms for replacement National Insurance Number cards to individual callers.

Deals with enquiries on National Insurance Service for individuals who continue to work after state pension age. The Age Exemption Certificate entitles individuals who work after state pension age to be exempt from paying National Insurance Contributions.
