Employer Group is a part of the National Insurance Contributions Office (NICO). The group is responsible for all work in connection with Class 1 National Insurance Contributions. Our main role is to collect, process and record Class 1 National Insurance (NI) Contributions.
We maintain contributor's NI accounts and supply NI information to other Government Agencies for benefit claims and other purposes. We do this by using the NI Recording System (NIRS2).

The Employer Group is made up of four Business Units.
End of Year Processing
PEOYP process all paper end-of-year returns (form P14) from receipt right through to transferring the data to NI accounts.
They also microfilm and archive every paper end of year return.
Electronic End of Year Processing
EEOYP deals with anomalies arising from processed end of year payroll, whether paper or electronic, checking and despatch of supporting documents to employers and IR district offices as well as providing customer support to all stakeholders.
They also deal with refunds of NI to government departments, and refunds/queries in relation to NI paid on provision of company cars and fuel, where appropriate.
Caseworker investigates category and liability information on NI Contribution accounts and ensures that Class 1 contributions are correctly recorded on individual NI accounts. Anomalies in the submissions are traced and processed, and where appropriate for contracted-out contributions an automatic payment of rebate is made to the pension provider.
