New guidance on how to pay Money Laundering Regulations fees and penalty charges

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have published guidance on how to pay Money Laundering Regulations (MLR) fees and penalty charges.

HMRC recommends that you pay your MLR renewal fees and/or penalty charge electronically by Bacs (Bankers Automated Clearing System) Direct Credit, Internet banking, Telephone banking, Faster Payments, CHAPS (Clearing House Automated Payment System).

You will need to set up the payment details with your bank and tell them:

  • HMRC's bank account details
  • your MLR registration number as the payment reference
