Use the correct Gift Aid repayment form – act now

In March 2011 HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) introduced a new R68(i) - Gift Aid and tax repayment claims form, which replaced all previous versions of this claim form. Over the course of the next few months HMRC will stop accepting claims on old style forms.

Claims made on old style forms contain more errors than claims on the new form and take longer to process. As a result it takes longer for repayments to be made to charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs).

HMRC recognise that some customers may have already started work on their next repayment claim so from the 6 June 2012, when HMRC receives a repayment claim on an old style form they will contact the charity or CASC to:

  • remind them that they need to use the current form available from the HMRC website and where to find it
  • explain that on this occasion HMRC have processed their current claim
  • explain HMRC will return any future repayment claims submitted on an old style form.

HMRC understand that some charities and CASCs are more familiar with the old style forms, however the new R68(i) claim form instantly calculates the correct amount of Gift Aid you can claim using the dates and amounts you enter. This helps charities and CASC avoid common errors and means HMRC can process claims faster.
