Money Service Businesses (MSB)

From today MSB previously registered with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) before 15 December 2007 and who have not applied to re-register with us under the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 will need to apply to register with HMRC as if they were a new business. This means MSB:

• can not trade legally until we have issued them with a new registration number
• can not use their former registration number as evidence of registration
• will face penalties or prosecution if they trade before they are notified they are on the register and are given a new registration number must pay a registration fee as well as the fit and proper fee
