SVM24066 - Share Valuation Manual: Self Assessment
Corporation Tax Self Assessment (CTSA)
Closing Enquiries
An enquiry is treated as finished when the Revenue gives written notice of closure to the company, and states its conclusions. Then the company has 30 days from the issue of the closure notice to make any amendments to the return required to reflect the conclusions set out in the notice. If the company fails to amend its return within 30 days of issue of the closure notice, or if the amendment it makes is not satisfactory, the Revenue may amend, or further amend, the self-assessment by written notice to the company within the following 30 days. The company has a right of appeal against the Revenue amendment.
If there is no enquiry, the company’s tax return (and the self-assessment) contained in it) normally becomes final 12 months after the filing date. Further information about closing enquiries is given in SVM31000.
