SSP is not due after the SMP ‘disqualifying period’ begins, see SPM10535.

During this period the employee may be entitled to SMP, MA or IB or for new claims from 27 October 2008 this will be ESA providing she satisfies the qualifying conditions.

Any days of certified incapacity during the disqualifying period count towards the 196 days after which long term IB/ESA may be payable.
