SPM10660 - Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) - Calculating average weekly earnings: Calculating AWE for agency workers, supply teachers, seasonal workers or other sporadic employment's where they are paid monthly
To work out AWE for employee's paid calendar monthly.
Note the first day of the employee's PIW.

- Find the date of the last normal pay day before the first day the employee is sick. (This is the last day of the set period).
- Count back to the payday at least eight weeks from the date in 1 and come forward one day.
- Add together all the earnings paid in between the dates in 2 and 1 (inclusive)
- Work out how many whole months there are between the dates in 2 and 1 (inclusive) see SPM10630.
- Divide the figure in 3 by the whole number of months in 4.
- Multiply the figure in 5 by 12.
- Divide the figure in 6 by 52 (Do not round up or down to whole pence)
