SPM10560 - Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) - Employees who cannot receive SSP when they go sick

Action required of the employer

If the employee has been sick for four or more calendar days in a row but they are not entitled to SSP, the employer is required by law to complete form SSP1 or their own computerised version. This will enable the employee claim state benefit from the DWP or SSA (in Northern Ireland)
