Taxable Social Security benefits

The following benefits paid by the Department of Social Security are taxable. The benefits are described at the paragraphs mentioned below:

• Bereavement Allowance ( SE76173) – replaced Widow's Pension from 9 April 2001, although WP is still paid to widows whose entitlement arose before 9 April 2001 (see SE76178)

• Pensions payable under the Industrial Death Benefit scheme - see SE76200
• Invalid Care Allowance - see SE76210
• Jobseeker’s Allowance - see SE76220

• Statutory Maternity Pay - see SE76360
• Widowed Parent's Allowance ( SE76172) – replaced Widowed Mother's Allowance from 9 April 2001, although WMA is still paid to widows whose entitlement arose before 9 April 2001( SE76177)
