SAM126021 - Returns: filing returns online: changed personal and business details (Action Guide)

When you receive changed personal and business details on the ‘Additional Information’ work list follow steps 1 - 9 below.

This guide is presented as follows

Name change (other than capacity)

Name change (other than capacity)

1.

Use TBS function AMEND TAXPAYER DESIGNATORY DETAILS to amend the name

Capacity name, address, postcode, or telephone number change

Use function VIEW RETURN to view the Full Internet return

Use TBS function AMEND CAPACITOR DETAILS to amend the SA record

When amending an address or post code, you may be presented with the transfer prompt, CASE AVAILABLE FOR TRANSFER, because the new address is outside the area covered by your office

 

  • If you are satisfied that all necessary updates have been made, and that it is appropriate to transfer responsibility

 

    • Note the details of the proposed new office on your papers

 

    • Accept the transfer by entering ‘Y’ in the Please Confirm If Transfer Is Required field

 

    • Select the [OK] button

 

    • Ensure Essential Notes and SA Notes are updated to reflect where papers are held(for example file, post batch, PN pad)

 

  • If you have further details to update, do not transfer the record at this stage

 

    • Note the details of the proposed new office on your papers

 

    • Leave ‘N’ in the Please Confirm If Transfer Is Required field

 

    • Select the [OK] button

 

    • Continue working through this guide

  • Amend the business name or business address

 

  • Amend the trade description

Where the computer prompted you to transfer the SA record following a change of address or postcode, and you rejected the transfer pending completion of your updates to the record

 

  • Use function MAINTAIN RESPONSIBLE OFFICE to transfer the SA record

 

    • Select the [Transfer] button

 

    • On the Transfer screen, enter the new office details, which you noted earlier

 

  • Ensure Essential Notes and SA Notes are updated to reflect where papers are held (for example file, post batch, PN pad)
