In day to day work, you may want to trace a taxpayer record
when
- Engaged on routine post tracing
- Dealing with telephone enquiries
- You have responsibility for either
- Setting up new SA records, or
- Transfer of records
The 33(Card) and 33 series of forms are used for clerical
tracing.
The following functions are available to you
- TAXPAYER INDEX, to access the National Tracing
System
- RETRIEVE UTR FROM D REFERENCE, to ascertain the
Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and SA office with responsibility
for Processing work, where the Schedule D Reference is known
- MAINTAIN RESPONSIBLE OFFICE, to ascertain the
offices with responsibility for each type of Revenue activity for
the taxpayer, where the UTR is known
You can also use the Taxpayer Business Service (TBS) to trace
known records relating to the taxpayer.

of post to the correct office.
