RPSM09300180 - Scheme administrator pages: Member benefits: Re-joining the state additional pension scheme

A payment made by a registered pension scheme to buy a scheme member back into the state second pension scheme can be treated as an authorised payment, where the payment is made in accordance with any of the following Department for Work and Pensions legislation

  • section 55 of the Pension Schemes Act 1993
  • section 51 of the Pension Schemes (Northern Ireland) Act 1993
  • section 55(2) of the Pension Schemes Act 1993
  • section 51 (2) of the Pension Schemes (Northern Ireland) Act 1993
  • paragraph 5(3B)(b) of Schedule 2 to the Pension Schemes Act 1993
  • paragraph 5(3B)(b) of Schedule 1 to the Pension Schemes (Northern Ireland) Act 1993.

These include ‘state scheme premiums’, ‘contributions equivalent premiums’, and some other payments to restore a member’s state scheme rights.
