How do I access HMRC Pension Schemes Online - I do not already have a Scheme Administrator ID
New users of Online Services
Go to the HMRC website at www.hmrc.gov.uk and under the 'do it
online' section, select 'Pension Schemes'.
You will then be presented with a 'Welcome' screen.
Select 'Register' to register as a new user.
Choose the type of user you wish to register as
(‘Pensions’). Then select ‘Pension Schemes for
Administrators’. You will then be asked whether or not you
have a Scheme Administrator ID. Select the link 'Apply for a Scheme
Administrator ID'.
You are then presented with our pre-registration screens and
need to enter the following information
- You are a Scheme Administrator
- Whether or not you are resident in the UK
- Either your own name or the company/organisation name
- Your address
- Your email address (optional)
- Your telephone number (optional)
When you have completed the pre-registration process, an
Activation Token will be displayed on screen. Please make a note of
this and/or take a screen print, as you will not receive
confirmation of this by post. The Activation Token will enable you
to complete the registration for Online Services process quickly
once you have received your Scheme Administrator ID.
HMRC will post a Scheme Administrator ID to you within 5
days.
When HMRC have completed pre-registration for you, HMRC will
post separately to you
- An Activation Token (you need to keep this safe until you receive your Scheme Administrator ID so you can complete registration for Pension Schemes Online).
- A Scheme Administrator ID.
When you have received the Scheme Administrator ID, go to the HMRC website at www.hmrc.gov.uk and under the 'do it online' section, select 'Pension Schemes'. You can then complete registration for Pension Schemes Online by following the five steps described at 1 to 5 on page RPSM02306100.
