For most individuals, their lifetime allowance will be what is referred to as the standard lifetime allowance.
The rates are as follows

| 2007/08 | £1,600,000 |
| 2008/09 | £1,650,000 |
| 2009/10 | £1,750,000 |
| 2010/11 | £1,800,000 |
| 2011/12 | £1,800,000 |
| 2012/13 onwards | £1,500,000 |
