Other rights of the scheme administrator

Nomination of the nominated date

Section 238

The nominated date is a date that is relevant to the determining of pension input periods.

In the case of an arrangement under a registered pension scheme the scheme administrator can nominate the nominated date unless the arrangement is a money purchase arrangement that is not a cash balance arrangement.

In the case of a money purchase arrangement that is not a cash balance arrangement the nominated date can be nominated by either the scheme member or by the scheme administrator. If more than one date is nominated then the date nominated first is the nominated date.

For more information about pension input periods and related matters see RPSM06100050 onwards.

Agreement of Relevant Valuation Factor

Section 276

The scheme administrator of a registered pension scheme can agree with HMRC to a relevant valuation factor (RVF) in excess of 20 in relation to that particular registered pension scheme.

For more information about RVFs see RPSM11104220.
