The member may have had a
pension debit applied to his benefits since the
primary protection certificate was issued.
If the pension debit reduced the value of the member's
benefits at 5 April 2006 to £1.5 million or less, then the
member has lost primary protection and the
standard lifetime allowance applies to him/her
from the date of the pension debit.
You will probably know from your own records whether a
pension debit has occurred. However, a member may also have
benefits in other schemes, so you may wish to ask them whether or
not their primary protection has been affected by a pension debit
since originally claiming primary protection.
