PSI21.3.11 - Centralised Schemes:
Non-Associated Employers - Scheme Administration
-
(This archived guidance relates to HMRC discretionary
practice before the 6th April 2006. For current guidance on
Registered Pension Schemes see the Registered Pension Schemes
Manual)
[PN21.12]
The identity of the sponsoring body is a good indication of
the likely quality of administration. We can be confident about
this if the sponsor is a Life Office or a well known firm of
brokers widely experienced and of long standing in the pensions
industry. But applications from a trade association or a little
known firm of brokers need more critical consideration: ask the
applicant for a detailed account of its past experience. If the
reply shows that the sponsor is inexperienced the application will
only be acceptable if an experienced Life Office or broker gives
advice or administers the scheme. The Divisional Manager normally
makes the final decision.
