PSI21.3.25 - Centralised Schemes: Non-Associated Employers - Scheme Rules - Undertaking Required

(This archived guidance relates to HMRC discretionary practice before the 6th April 2006. For current guidance on Registered Pension Schemes see the Registered Pension Schemes Manual)

Where the scheme rules contain a power of augmentation the administrator must give an undertaking to consult us before providing pension or lump sum benefits in excess of the basic scale. There is no stock form for this undertaking but see PSI21AppendixA for a specimen undertaking that can be used subject to any alterations necessary depending upon the manner in which the basic benefits accrue under the rules.
