PSI17.1.58 - Tax Treatment of Approved Schemes and Payments by Approved Schemes: Tax Treatment of Approved Schemes - Repayment of Tax to Self- Administered Schemes at Interim Stage

(This archived guidance relates to HMRC discretionary practice before the 6th April 2006. For current guidance on Registered Pension Schemes see the Registered Pension Schemes Manual)

A self-administered scheme does not qualify for tax relief on its investment income until it is formally approved. This period before a scheme can be approved sometimes causes financial loss because the scheme has only the net investment income available for re-investment.
