PSI16.2.2 - Discontinuance of Schemes:
Winding-Up - Winding-Up on Event
-
(This archived guidance relates to HMRC discretionary
practice before the 6th April 2006. For current guidance on
Registered Pension Schemes see the Registered Pension Schemes
Manual)
It is common for documentation of a scheme to require that
it be wound-up if the employer is liquidated or otherwise goes out
of business, although this is not a Revenue requirement except for
small self-administered schemes. See
PSI16.1.8-12 for the procedure where
the scheme is to continue.
