Preservation legislation permits scheme rules to provide for other alternatives to SSB, eg an amount smaller than, equal to or larger than that required to constitute SSB to come into payment either earlier or later than the normal pension age. Such benefits should generally be of at least equal actuarial value to the revalued SSB payable at normal pension age. These alternatives are subject to the requirements of Part 6 of PN.
