PSI8.2.45 - Lump Sum Benefits and Communication: Commutation Factors - Procedure - Post-Retirement Increases Given

(This archived guidance relates to HMRC discretionary practice before the 6th April 2006. For current guidance on Registered Pension Schemes see the Registered Pension Schemes Manual)

If the scheme does give post-retirement increases on one of the bases in PSI7.1.4 compare the factors with those in the appropriate table in Appendix A. If the factors do not exceed the appropriate table by more than 4% (see example at PSI8.2.41(b)) they may be accepted. If, however, the factors are outside that range look at SF70/132, sub-folder 5 to see whether we have agreed factors for the practitioner concerned. If there are agreed factors but those adopted for your case do not correspond, ask the practitioner why they differ.
