PSI5.5.2 - Contributions by Employers:
Cessation of Trading - General
-
(This archived guidance relates to HMRC discretionary
practice before the 6th April 2006. For current guidance on
Registered Pension Schemes see the Registered Pension Schemes
Manual)
Employers' contributions paid to a scheme either shortly
before or after trading has ceased are a frequent cause of
problems. There are 3 main areas:
- Schemes set up when a disposal of the
business was planned, (
PSI5.5.6- 11).
- An employer ceases to trade but wants an
existing approved scheme to continue. (
PSI5.5.14-16).
- Special contributions. (
PSI5.3.7-10).
