If the scheme is in surplus, one means of reducing the
surplus is by the suspension of contributions (“contribution
holidays”) by the employer for up to 5 years (see
PSI20.8.58-59). The
procedures described in
PSI5.2.12-13 do not apply in such
circumstances.
